We would like to welcome everyone out to celebrate our 4th season as the regional leader in all things Action Sports here in the Fort Wayne Regional Area. This year we will try to duplicate that which rained us out last year.  We will hold a cash prize Skateboard contest inside Lawton Skatepark Downtown.  We will also hold BMX Demonstrations by local and professional riders.  We will also have a Scooter Village set up for the 1st time for the younger ones who may want to dabble a bit in the entry levels of Action Sports.  We hope to see everyone out and enjoying the day with us.  Scroll down for more information.

Cost:
$5 Entry
$10 Per Family
$10 – Additional to enter SKATE CONTEST

This fall The Fort Wayne Indoor brings you a Skateboard Contest like no other, the entire course is the contest area inside Lawton Skatepark downtown, Fort Wayne Indiana.

We will be offering a rather handsome cash prize $500 to the top 3 riders and hopes to attract some high caliber skateboarders to take each other on!

This will take part during our Fall Bash fundraiser, Fort Wayne’s 3nd annual “Action Sports and Music Festival”. Soul Kitchen Food Truck will be on hand as well as some Bomb Pops! Solution Action Sports & Wonder Wheels BMX Demos will take place on 4th street along with Rod and friends on the turn-tables.

Mission & Purpose:
The MISSION of The Fort Wayne Indoor BMX & Skatepark
IS TO PROVIDE A SAFE, LEGAL, AND POSITIVE RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITY FOR MULTI-AGED LOCALS TO GROW THEIR BMX / SKATING SKILLS, WHILE BUILDING SELF-CONFIDENCE AND ENRICHING THEIR LIVES BY BECOMING A PART OF A UNIQUE COMMUNITY.
The purpose of The Fort Wayne Indoor’s Annual Block Party is to raise funds to support the mission of the Fort Wayne Indoor Bike & Skate Park. The Fort Wayne Indoor Bike & Skate Park (FWI) is a 501c(3) not for profit organization that serves the bike and skate community of Northeast Indiana. The FWI provides the youth of Fort Wayne the opportunity to build a supportive and inclusive local skating and biking community. The FWI supports this community by providing a custom built indoor facility complete with ramps, rails, and trick features designed and built by local skaters and trick riders.
The FWI goes beyond offering a legal, safe, and clean environment for self-expression through free style riding and skating by hosting competitions and riding events that mix skating, bike riding, and music. Rich Hoppe and Dan Butler’s lifelong dedication to the sports that they love has earned them friends across the industry. These friends and connections work at some of the largest manufacturers in the industry and they routinely support the FWI with prizes and gear to promote local competitions and events.
The Fort Wayne Indoor faces a challenge each and every year. A challenge that cannot be avoided. That challenge is warm weather. The target demographic for the FWI is youth. Once the weather warms and skateboarders and bicyclists can move their interests outdoors to ride for free, the regular revenue stream for the FWI dwindles.
The Fort Wayne Indoor’s Annual Block Party seeks to provide an alternative revenue stream for FWI through sponsorships and ticket sales to fund the park through the summer months. We also seek to use The Fort Wayne Indoor’s Annual Block Party to raise awareness of the Fort Wayne Indoors mission and purpose among potential corporate sponsors to help fund the park.
The Fort Wayne Indoor is supporting the youth of Fort Wayne’s skate, bike, and all wheeled sports in our community and we need your help

Thank You for your continued support!

Rich Hoppe & Dan Butler

We want to start this update off with a Huge Thank You to all of you amazing Fort Wayne Indoor Supporters.  We just wrapped up our 3rd season as the area’s ONLY Indoor BMX & Skate facility!

We started out this season with a COMPLETE rebuild.  We literally tore down every single ramp in the building, downsized the park by 4,000 sq ft (now 7,000 sq ft) and ended up with an amazingly fun and cool place to ride.  Huge thanks to Brian Leonard for spearheading and spending countless hours at the park during the rebuild (props to Aiden & Jaise Jordan also for their non-stop help)

The Rebuild…..

The season started out well as we are super dependent upon the weather.  We opened up the 1st week of November and the cash flow helped get us out of last year’s debt for the 1st few months. We reorganized our pricing structure by adding a $10 Yearly Fee to help offset Insurance, Electric, Gas, etc. By the time February hit, so did 70 degrees and of course folks want to be outside enjoying the outdoors.   The remainder of the winter was extremely slow in comparison to the 1st few months.

Rebuild 2016

We rely on a mix of cash flow through-out the year.  This time of the year we ask for your help to ensure that this unique facility of ours stays open for our community.  Because we are a non-for-profit 501(c)3,   all of your donated money can be written off on your taxes for 2018.  We are 100% Volunteer and 100% committed to keeping the doors open, here in Fort Wayne, IN.  We are always working on new ways and efforts to make the park successful.

Please take a few minutes and donate any amount you can afford; every single dollar goes towards a community of amazing individuals.

Sincerely,

Rich Hoppe / Dan Butler and the Entire Fort Wayne Indoors Group of Radical Volunteers.

The day began at 2pm with the beginner class taking the course directly at 3:30pm event emcee was Matt Hanes who kept everyone entertained through-out the day.  We hosted 3 classes and everyone who entered skated extremely well.  The vibe was amazing all day long, inside we were cranking out tunes by Metallica, Pantera, and even some Black Sabbath during the contest!

25 folks entered in total and Frank Gray from the Journal Gazette showed up to report the action in Sundays newspaper, Logan Atkinson made the front page of the Metro section. Thanks for the support Frank and the Journal!  Click here to view the write up!

Matt Hanes

Matt Hanes

This past month Dan Butler organized a benefit to help out Matt Hanes a Fort Wayne Skateboarder for over 30 years. as well as an overall good friend and contributor to the scenes in and around our local region.

Matt recently discovered that he has a stage 4 Kidney disease and also even more recently had hip replacement surgery (One of Two)

Matt has been off work for nearly 8 months and we are proud to have helped him out by raising enough $$’s to cover a full months mortgage on his house.

Here is a letter Matt sent over, true passion and nothing but love from this amazing human!
